Hello, I’m New Here!

Hey there! I’m seventeen year old Kaitlyn and I’m Abigail’s new apprentice. I have been training with Abbi for almost 2 months already, and time really does fly when you are having fun!

Over these two months I have already learnt a lot of new things. I have had the opportunity to learn and practice gel nails on both a training hand and real clients. I have also had a go at completing a set of classic individual lashes on a practise head called Molly the Dolly (she doesn’t talk very much) and I am excited to progress to working on clients in the future.

I used to think working in the beauty industry would be an easy job and quite laid back, but I’ve quickly learnt there is a lot more that goes into all of the beauty treatments we receive than we know!

For example the science behind a brow lamination or a lash lift treatment is crazy! I would never have known that there are certain stages and why they are carried out in such a particular order. Learning all of these new beauty techniques and tricks has really opened my eyes, it has shown me that to do beauty you need to learn all of the science behind the treatment as well as the treatment it’s self to achieve good results. When it comes to working on someone’s face you want to make sure that you do your best work every single time, no matter how many times you do a treatment. The number one rule to maintaining and growing your clientele is good quality work!

Another BIG must for new beauticians like me is to be consistent with your work and that you don’t want to rush people. I would rather take my time and create something beautiful than rush and create a mess. The beauty industry is big and competitive so to stand out you need to be unique! For example, after experiencing a few weddings with Abbi , we haven’t left until everything and everyone is perfect and the bridal party are heading to the ceremony. This way anything can be fixed if needed and kept perfect! Abbi has also shown me that it isn’t just about the makeup, it’s about helping with other things too. Lacing dresses, putting shoes on, finding people who are in the wrong place, entertaining children and much more! Anything that we can be do to make the bride’s day as smooth as possible, we get it done.

Being trained by Abbi has been a ball so far and I can’t wait to learn so much more!

-Kaitlyn
